While Jesus was here living among us part of His earthly ministry was taking 12 guys as His disciples, living with and among them for 3 years.  During that time He had deep and personal relationships with them, loved on them, went through life with them, challenged them, and trained and taught them in how they should live and follow Him as Lord. Then after fulfilling His purpose of coming, to die as the sacrificial atonement for our sins so we could be reconciled to God, He rose from the Grave conquering sin and death.  Right before He was about to ascend to Heaven, He gave his disciples the Great Commission to and essentially to them to “Go and make” more “disciples”. We are passionate to follow Christ’s example of growing disciples through relationship.
